The visitor entrance is located on Sussex Drive.
The Queen Elizabeth II Equestrian Monument in front of Rideau Hall’s main gate on Sussex Drive signals your arrival at the site.

On foot or by bicycle
Rideau Hall is a 3.5-kilometre walk from Parliament Hill along scenic Sussex Drive.
There are three visitor entrance gates through which you may enter the grounds: Sussex Drive, Thomas Gate or MacKay street.

By car
Free street parking is available in the surrounding neighbourhood (for a maximum of 3 hours), and visitors may enter on foot via Sussex Gate, Thomas Gate or MacKay Gate.

By public transportation
Visit www.octranspo.com or call 613-741-4390 for information on bus schedules and the location of bus stops near Rideau Hall. If you are travelling from Gatineau, contact Société des transports de l’Outaouais or call 819-770-3242 for routes and transfer schedules. 

By tour bus
Tour buses can drop off visitors in the lay-by area adjacent to the site on Princess Avenue, next to the main entrance gate on Sussex Drive. Drivers must remain with their buses during the tours. Visitors may enter onto the site by nearby entrance gates located on Sussex Drive.

Visitors with reduced mobility

The residence and grounds can be reached by car, taxi or bus. Parking is not available on-site. Visitors with reduced mobility can be dropped off and picked up at a specific location on-site. Contact us at guide@gg.ca or 1-866-842-4422 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, to let us know the date and time of your arrival so that we can authorize your access to the residence.

If you are coming to enjoy the grounds, it is more convenient to drop off your guests near the Sussex Gate, the Thomas Gate or the MacKay Gate and park on the surrounding streets.

The grounds are open from 8 a.m. to one hour before sunset.

Pets

Thank you for not bringing your pets on the grounds.

Amenities

  • Washrooms are available at the Visitor Centre. Please note that the washrooms are open year-round.
  • The Visitor Centre is open from May to September.
  • There are picnic tables and a play structure.
  • Wheelchairs are available on-site.
  • Please let us know in advance if you have any special needs.
