Do you know someone who has risked injury or death to protect another person? We would like to help you honour this brave person. From entering burning buildings to plunging into icy waters to intervening in dangerous situations, recipients of the Decorations for Bravery put their lives on the line to save or protect others.
Nominate someone or a group of people by sharing their story. But don’t delay! Your nomination must be made within two years of the incident or within two years after a court or a coroner has concluded its review of the circumstances surrounding the incident or act of bravery.
- Do you know an eligible candidate? Tell us why they should receive one of the Decorations for Bravery. Be sure to provide details of their actions and the risk faced during the incident.
- Gather your candidate’s contact information to support your nomination.
- Provide the names and contact information of victims, eyewitnesses and anyone else who provided assistance during the incident.
You are now ready to submit your nomination.
Ensuring Confidentiality
Please do not notify the candidate about the nomination or initiate a letter-writing campaign. This avoids disappointment if the nomination is not successful. The Chancellery of Honours will keep nominations confidential. As part of this commitment, the Chancellery will respond to inquiries about the status of a nomination only to the nominator identified on the nomination form.
Please also note that the information you provide online is secure and will not be shared with third parties.
