Founder of the Eskimology Section of the Department of Northern Affairs, of the Inuit magazine Inuttitut and of the University of Saskatchewan's Arctic Research and Training Centre, this anthropologist has devoted his life to researching and solving the problems of the North. Over the past thirty-five years, he has spent much of his time in the North working to provide the Inuit with social, economic and political opportunities.
