Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
An active volunteer in the London community for many years, Robert Young has long been involved with the London Psychiatric Hospital, acting as a spokesperson for people with mental illness and working with other organizations to ensure that patients who have returned to the community receive adequate support. Mr. Young devotes endless time and energy to children through the Children's Aid Society, Block Parents, Paul Bunyan Camp, sports associations, Scouts Canada and his church. A retired police inspector, he also supported children and youth in need by serving on the community's Child Abuse Committee and by volunteering with the Salvation Army.
