Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Harry Francis Young has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Saint-Laurent since 1983 as a driver and, for the past decade, as president of the organization. In assuming the presidency, Mr. Young prevented the cancellation of the program, which is run through the Montréal Volunteer Bureau. In foul or fair weather, twice a week he and his team produce and deliver 25 meals for senior citizens in the community. For the past 13 years, every Saturday and Sunday he has collected and delivered food to the Oasis Food Bank. He has also been a member of a musical group that entertained at seniors' residences. Mr. Young devotes himself wholeheartedly to assisting the elderly and disadvantaged in his community.
