Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, on following the death of the Honourable Lincoln Alexander
OTTAWA—My wife, Sharon, and I are saddened by the loss of the Honourable Lincoln Alexander, former lieutenant governor of Ontario.
Mr. Alexander contributed so much to Ontario and to Canada during his lifetime, reflecting the highest ideals of service to our country. From his time spent in the Canadian Forces, to his period as a member of Parliament, to his role as lieutenant governor, he devoted his life to improving this country for all Canadians and he opened the doors for others to follow.
In so many ways, he was a pioneer, and his contributions to this nation will long be remembered. On behalf of all Canadians, Sharon and I offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
David Johnston
