Message from the Governor General of Canada Following the
Death of the Honourable Mauril Bélanger

OTTAWA—Every so often, our lives are graced by the presence of a truly remarkable individual. They teach us invaluable lessons about compassion, fairness and generosity. Their time with us, however brief it may be, changes us for the better.

Mauril Bélanger was one such individual. As a proud champion of La Francophonie, a dedicated representative of his riding and an exemplary leader in his various Cabinet roles, he embodied some the noblest values we, as Canadians, hold dear.

He will be missed and remembered by all those whose lives he has touched. My wife Sharon joins me in offering our deepest condolences to the entire Bélanger family.
