OTTAWA— Canada is mourning the tragic death of Corporal James Choi, member of the Royal Westminster Regiment based in New Westminster, British Columbia, during a training exercise at CFB Wainwright in Alberta. He was a dedicated soldier, who was held in high esteem by his colleagues. We are grateful for his service to our country.
The women and men who serve our country in uniform put their lives at risk every day, even in training. As Commander-in-Chief, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family of Corporal Choi, to his friends and colleagues, and to all members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Canada stands with you.
