OTTAWA - It was with great sadness that we learned of the horrible attack in Quebec City last night. At this difficult time, our thoughts are with the victims of this tragedy and their families. I would like to convey my most sincere condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.

Words cannot express our dismay at this senseless act of violence. I hope that everyone impacted by the consequence of this aggression will find comfort, strength and courage within our communities and among their loved ones.

I also wish a speedy recovery to the injured and I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the authorities, the first responders and the medical personnel for their vital work.
