OTTAWA, Ontario—On International Women’s Day, I pay tribute to all the women who are contributing to our communities and to our country.
I grew up in Nunavik, in northern Quebec, with two powerful role models. My mother and grandmother taught me and my siblings about strong and independent women.
Yet, early on in my career, men dominated any room. Often, I was the only woman. It took years before this started to change. Before the voices of other strong and independent women were heard. And when they were heard, the conversations started to change.
We all had a say.
Inclusion and equality can only lead to a stronger country. We need women’s ingenuity, innovation, creativity and unique perspectives. On this International Women’s Day, let us all work together—as equal partners—to create a better world for generations of women to come.
