Everyone, every Canadian, deserves space to tell their stories, to love who they love, to be who they are. During this Pride season, we saw across the country a wellspring of love and pride from the LGBTQ2+ community—particularly as people once again gathered after years of staying apart. People gathered to celebrate their identity, attracting so many others to express their support.
We have also seen increased advocacy for the challenges facing this community, including for mental wellness, acceptance and the erasure of stigmatizations and stereotyping. People raised their voices, together, to show that they have joyous and sad, wonderful and tragic stories to tell—and we can all learn from every unique and uniting experience.
As Pride season will soon draw to an end, and as summer fades into fall, let us all continue to find ways to support the LGBTQ2+ community now and in the future. Together, we can all make a difference.
